Exciting times at TheRespiteTrilogy.com! The second raised bed is in place and thickly mulched.
The next step is to cover these for a month, a lightproof layer, letting any weeds grow but not take energy to their roots. This is not a technique I’ve used before, so it will be interesting to see how effective it is. (More details on the website.)
Two nine-foot-by-four-foot beds gives 2.67 square yards, which is more than I’ll need for my autumn planting of garlic, peas, cabbages and hardwood cuttings.
I’m sure there are other things I could be planting. This is a huge learning process for me, and I’d welcome any suggestions or comments.
Thank you.
